Demayth Duels: Experimenting with Hit & Miss, Critical Hits, and Targeted Attacks!
Hey Demayth community,
We're deep in the trenches of playtesting for Demayth Duels, and things are getting exciting! We're experimenting with some new ideas to make the combat system even more dynamic, thematic, and engaging.
Hit or Miss?
One of the core changes we're exploring is a shift away from the purely numerical hit/miss system. Instead of simply comparing attack and defense values, we're introducing elements of chance and strategy.
Partial Hits: Even if your attack value is lower than your opponent's defense, you might still land a glancing blow, dealing reduced damage.
Critical Hits: Landing a full attack with no defense could trigger a critical hit, dealing bonus damage or inflicting additional effects.
Targeted Attacks: We're also experimenting with the ability to target specific areas of your opponent (head, arms, legs, etc.), adding a layer of tactical decision-making and thematic flair.
Thematic Depth vs. Complexity
Our goal is to strike a balance between thematic depth and gameplay complexity. These new mechanics add a layer of strategic decision-making and create more exciting moments, but we also want to ensure the game remains accessible and easy to learn.
