They walk among us, yet they are not entirely of us. They are the Demigods, the inheritors of a divine spark, the living embodiment of the Duality that shapes the Demayth universe. To understand the ongoing saga of Demayth, one must understand the Demigods.
All Demigods possess within them a spark of Demayth, a connection to the fundamental energies of the universe. This "divine spark" is a metaphorical representation of their inherent potential—their ability to channel and manipulate both Light and Dark Demayth, to wield magic, and to achieve extraordinary feats of strength and skill. It is this spark that grants them their enhanced abilities, their long lifespans, and their unique connection to the cosmic forces that govern existence.
The primary origin of this divine spark lies in the interactions between the Exalted Ones—the chosen agents of the Elder Divine—and the mortal races of Demayth. Whether through blessings, unions between Exalted Ones and mortals, or other mysterious means, the essence of the Exalted is passed down, creating a new generation of Demigods. These chosen mortals could be human, or even that of a beast.
Just as the Elder Divine embody diverse domains and aspects of Demayth, so too do the Exalted Ones, and consequently, the Demigods who inherit their lineage. Some Demigods might be born with an affinity for Light Demayth, while others might be drawn to the darker currents. Many more still embody a balance between these forces, reflecting the inherent Duality of the universe itself. This diversity is further reflected in the myriad Demigod races and lineages that populate the realms of Demayth. From the towering Okand to the elusive Petit, each Demigod race possesses its own unique history, culture, abilities, and relationship with the Divine.
Ultimately, a Demigod's path is shaped by their own choices. They may choose to embrace a life of peace and solitude (the path of Retirement), strive for true godhood (the path of Ascension), or choose to remain in the mortal realms to protect their world (the path of Intent). The Demigods, in all their diversity and complexity, are the driving force of change in the Demayth universe. They are the heroes of countless legends, the protagonists of their own stories, and the shapers of Demayth's future.
